A day trip to take the hike around the island of Dyrön. We decided to take the day off, enjoy the warm weather that finally came back and take a day hike. There are many islands on the west coast you can easily reach with one of the ferries from the main land at the cost of a bus ticket. Such a good way to explore new places! We decided for Dyrön, 15 minutes ferry ride outside Tjörn and it´s trail Dyröleden. Approximately 6 km around, but a lot of up and down hill, sometimes close to climbing, so the legs got good training! The scenery! Amazing! It´s so beautiful you can hardly believe it, and a constantly changing view. Here we see the island of Åstol. The trail took us to beautiful hidden bays with crystal clear water, through a small forest and high up on top of the island. But the most exciting part... ...was when the path took us down through this ravine, almost not shoulder wide at the most narrow part! Absolutely stunning! When coming home, we were all pretty tired and very happy for a great experience. The rest of the evening we were hanging around on the terrace sipping freshly made black currant lemonade.

In autumn, when the days start to get a little bit chilly and time on the beach definitely is over, it is time for the woods. In the forest, surrounded by the sounds of nature itself and nothing else, the soul really can breathe. Where the moss lies century thick over the rocks and the trees proudly reaches towards the sky. I am trying to squeeze in as many forest walks as possible this time of year to really fill up the inside pantry with as much images of the forest stillnes as I can. To use in the dark days of winter to come. ... and then, home, light up Stumpastaken with lots of candles and a teapot on warming. Autumn at it´s very very best! Summer in Scandinavia is short... Yet we set so many hopes and activities to the few weeks of outdoor life. There are not so many warm nights, not so many perfect days, there is no guarantee for sunshine or warm water… But still... the days that are perfect are AMAZING, BREATHTAKING and PRECIOUS! Above are selected moments from our summer. Sweden is fantastic and we enjoyed this vacation just staying home, spending time with friends, long dinners with the family and magic swims in the ocean. The energy level is filled up and I feel happy just looking at these photos. Moments. Breaths. Life. "He who owns a garden and a book collection lacks nothing" Cicero Since my ordinary job mostly consist on sitting in front of the computer, gardening is the perfect hobby! I get to work with my hands, get dirty all over, get a nice workout and lovely flowers in reward! For the soul, it is also the perfect treatment… Any anger, frustration or other issues just flies away while being in the garden. The best therapy, haha. This year we are gearing up a bit, trying to grow some vegetables and besides that try to take car of as much of natures resources as possible. So far we harvested a lot of leech and made syrup from wild pansies and lemon balm. (Ps, our Beautiful bird bath is available in the webshop, click the button below for more info.) Lemon balm also makes a really tasty tea, perfect for bedtime! Just pour hot water over the leaves and let it soak for about 10 minutes, add some more water and enjoy! Have a good week everyone! "Sköna maj välkommen" ,"Lovely May welcome" Johan Ludwig Runeberg In May, Sweden dresses up like to go to a ball. After hiding inside the long dark winter, we all come crawling out from our coverts ready to enjoy the light and the fresh air. It is truly a long wait, but how nature repays us!! Millions of nuances of green, flowers in all colors and birds competing in their yearly singing competition. Warmer days and evenings makes it possible to have fika outside. Stumpastaken can spread it´s light both indoors and outdoors and the garden starts to give us flowers for our vases! Picking flowers and making nice arrangements is one of lifes great but little joys. We always have fresh flowers on the table during the blooming season and I use whatever I can find. Sometimes garden flowers and somtimes just anything from the ditch. Life is too short not to enjoy natures wonders! Have a lovely May everyone! If you like, check out our webshop below. We have so many ideas for smart and beautiful design items. Perfect for all the summer parties ahead. Love, Veronica-Born in Sweden
Heureka! - Arkimedes I absolutely love our bathroom and I love the bathtub! When we built our new bathroom my number one wish was a bathtub and it is the best place to wind down. Our house is out on the very end of the Swedish westcoast and the garden is mostly stone and rocks. In order to build as close to nature as possible, this end of the house lies very close to the surrounding rock, which means the wall has a 20 degree slant. That´s how we got the shelf over the bathtub. The bedroom and bathroom lies in a separate part of the house. Kids can be wild and crazy in the livingroom but in this part it is stillness anyway. Very much appreciated and my best tip, to create a place in the house where you can sneak off for some quietness if needed. Have a good weekend!!! (Easter is in the webshop.) Strange but yummy Swedish tradition - Semla. Today, is the Semlas own day! Traditionally it´s the last day before lent, where you were supposed to stuff yourself to prepare for the 40 days of fast before Easter. Nowadays we don´t fast that much, but we eat the Semlas anyway! The best Semlas in the world are made by my friend Kristina.(Below under a fig tree). Home grinded and cooked almond filling, perfectly whipped cream and buns just big enough to make the perfect fika! Mmmmm…. So, now… Time for coffee and a Semla! If you are in Sweden in the beginning of the year… try one out! It is truly a Swedish fika! Unfortunately we can´t sell Kristinas yummy Semlas in the webshop, but we have lots of other nice things. Have a look below! If you're not buying recycled products, you're not really recycling. Ed Begley, Jr. We are truly proud of our product "Stumpastaken". A decoration piece made of 100% recycled aluminum. Stumpastaken is a candleholder that allows you to burn your left over candle stumps all the way down, instead of throwing them away. There are cute little vases available as extras, that makes it the perfect decoration piece. Candleholder, vase, tabledecoration… You can also add a grid and use it as a warmkeeper for tea or food. Recycling. Decorating. Modern living. A responsible design piece. The cork bowls available to Stumpastaken are also recycled. Made of leftovers from the wine cork industry, and old wine and champagne corks. This way we reuse and maximize natures resources, creating beautiful design items you can own and give away with a good conscience. Rest when you're weary. Refresh and renew yourself, your body, your mind, your spirit. Then get back to work. . Ralph Marston MELLBYSTRAND: We all need to load the batteries in between times of much work. The best way to recollect energy is probably different for everyone, but I strongly believe in nature and fresh air. Like the day from the photos above. We had a short break and spent the weekend in Mellbystrand where Kims mom lives. In summer Sweden´s longest beach is full of people sunbathing and playing, but wintertime it is endless peace and quiet with the soft breeze from the ocean. After walking until our minds were calm and our legs were tired, we turned around, now the wind on the other side of our cheeks. Then we headed home where we were served danish pancaces and coffee. An exceptional mini break from all computer buzz and warehouse stress. Refreshed and rejuvenated we could then go back to work, filled with energy. Don´t forget to rest. Rest is not lazieness, it is crucial for our long term well being.
Live and work but do not forget to play, to have fun in life and really enjoy it. Eileen Caddy We do work a lot. But our work is intergrated with SO much fun and we truly feel fortunate to live, love and work the way we do. Just now we are back from the Top Drawer fair in London and even though we are completely tired after long days and full concentration, we are tired with a smile. The people we meet… It´s such a pleasure to meet the customers and fellow exhibitors become friends for life. If you look for happiness right where you are, you don´t have to search for it... It is right there! ![]() Klicka här när du vill redigera. Now we will enjoy our beautiful surroundings at the west coast for a couple of weeks before we head off to the next fair.
